Fabric roofing constructed from materials such as ETFE and PTFE are long lasting but do require maintenance. The design life can be compromised if regular inspections are not carried out. The Operations and Maintenance manual sets out a maintenance programme according to the type of fabric installation. Some inspections can be carried out by trained maintenance staff but it is strongly recommended that an annual inspection is made by a specialist to highlight any problems and report on the conditions of all component parts.
